 Advisor &
Regional Coordinator

Dr. Jody Peterson

I earned my Bachelor's degrees in history and political science in addition to a Master's degree in European History from the University of North Texas (a really long time ago!). I then attended Washington State University to earn a Ph.D. in American History. After teaching for several 2- and 4- year schools, I landed at Centralia College in 1998. I become involved in Phi Theta Kappa in 2001 and became the lead advisor in 2004. My main interests beyong history and government include reading and sleeping. And if I wasn't a teacher, I would most likely be working as a chef in a restaurant decorated with flamingos!

I am excited to be serving the Greater Northwest Region as the Regional Coordinator and as the Iota Omega Chapter's Advisor. Although it may seem far away, we only have 2 years until our region yet again hosts the International Convention - Seattle, here we come in 2011!

President 2008-2009

Lori Taylor

I am an English major working on completing my first novel. A member of Phi Theta Kappa since Spring 2007, I have participated as a volunteer in all Centralia College Foundation activities during the 2008-09 school year, assisted as tree designer for the Providence Centralia Hospital Festival of Trees for 2007 and 2008, and organized the 2008 food drive benefitting the Lewis County Food banks. As the 2008-09 Iota Omega chapter president, I organized an aggessive recruitment campaign in collaboration with Trio club on campus which enabled us as a chapter to reach Pinnacle status during the 2008 school year. My future goals include publishing my book and continuing the series with 3 additional novels that will eventually become screenplays. I also hope to illustrate my books and expand my graphic design and photography experience. In the fall of 2009 I plan on continuing my education by pursuing a Bachelor degree in English.

Secretary Dec 08-May 09

Candice Madore

My name is Candice Rebecca Madore I was raised in Tenino, Washington. I dropped out of High school my junior year and went on a 840 mile bike ride down hwy 101 to Santa Cruz California. When I was 20 I was blessed with my 2 year old son, Robert Baughman 3rd. When he was born my boyfriend Robert and I went back to school. I currently hold a 3.67 GPA and have just received my General AA Degree. I have been accepted to Saint Martin's University in Lacey and start next fall (August 2009). I will be going for my BA in Social and Health Services. My academic career here at Centralia has been one of the most magnificent times in my life. At Centralia I got the opportunity to be a Chapter officer of Phi Theta Kappa, served on instructional council and assessment committee. I feel that during my time here I have made good relationships with my teachers and other students. Yet, my academic career has just started. I wish everyone could be given the opportunity I have been given to further my education. I hope all good luck in there Centralia college experience and best wishes for your future.

Treasurer 2008-09

Olivia Molinari

I joined Phi Theta Kappa with hopes that I would be able to be officer, and to make some decent scholarships. After being in the organization well over a year, I've thrown my hopes that I had in the beginning to the way side. I've enjoyed watching the seven of us learn how to operate as a team and make friendships that I hope will last forever.

Attending the International Convention was amazing. I'd never seen so many Kappans in one place at one time. Executive Director Rod Risley said something to the effect that we the Kappans we're so electrifying that we blew the power out at the International Convention in Grapevine, Texas 2009.

I also enjoyed being a part of getting this website established. After attending the website session by Deena Bisig with our Communications Officer Ryan Smith, him and I really wanted to get it off the ground. And about 10 months later the the chapter was able to get it established and with my help published to the world wide web! :]

I hope that in the future… about 10 or so years down the road, the officers and our advisors of the 2008-2009 year can have a "Family reunion" of sorts. I'll see you then guys!!
